In London, in the past centuries, there were several waterways, but these are now buried except for some sections. Today I want to talk about the waterbus services from Camden Town to Little Venice
(and back) along the Regents Canal.I must admit that I had always noticed them during my trip in London, but I never bothered to get information about them. Prices are quite good: 12£ (with return) and 8.30£ (one way course). With my aunt we were able to take the last bus departing from Camden Town at 5:00 pm.[NB: the last bus, al 5 o’clock, goes from Camden to Little Venice and doesn’t come back. Remember that if you want the opportunity to come back with this service!]
The first thing I have noticed is how London looks different if you look at it from a boat driving along the canal. The ferry ride takes about two hours during which we saw several beautiful villas surrounded by greenery and also the London zoo, of which you can see large aviary. Life along the canal is always very alive
, including boats carrying around a lot of tourists and people who walk or run along the sidewalks along the canal. The trip is very quiet and the guide is very accurate in her explanation about the London sights that we see around us. We passed a lot of bridges boats and floating houses (yes, there are even in London and not only in Amsterdam). In that way I “was allowed” to discover a different London, even more beautiful, from what I knew. To be very short: I strongly recommend you to make this journey! I have already studied other ways to discover London’s waterways: I discovered a small passion for sailing and discover the city from their rivers and canals. I leave you with some pictures taken during the trip.
