Taking a camping holiday, whether, in a tent, caravan or camper is an excellent opportunity to spend an outdoor holiday. But today it also means being surrounded by comforts and services of all kinds.
But what does it mean to take a camping holiday?
Camping is an exciting solution when you have a tight budget for your holidays (even if today there are campsites “for all budgets”). It is a perfect idea for both those who love the sea and those who love the mountains. The indispensable condition is, of course, the ability to adapt! In a campsite, you share many common areas, especially the toilets and showers. And you must obviously provide by yourself for every meal (if you are not too tied to saving money you can also look for a nice restaurant nearby).
Sleeping in a tent is probably the most authentic essence of this type of holiday. But you don’t necessarily have to sleep in a tent: you can also choose structures such as bungalows or hotels (but not all campsites have them and obviously the price changes).
Another factor which will then affect the price is the location of the campsite: in seaside resorts, the closer the camp is to the sea, the higher the price will be.
Useful tips
The easy voyage website collected 10 useful tips for a camping trip a few years ago:
1. Remember that the tent cannot be set up everywhere, especially inside protected natural areas. If you don’t want to incur fines (apparently very high), check before departure where you can mount it;
2. If you decide to go to a facility, choose it carefully. Remember to pay attention to aspects such as the sanitation of the bathrooms and the location. If you move during the high season, think about booking in advance, or you risk not finding a place.
3. Remember you need a tent, you don’t need a castle! Especially if your stay will not be (very) long. More important is to get one with a reinforced bottom, to make your sleep a little less “edgy”, and a top waterproof sheet that protects you when it rains.
4. If the quiet corner at the back of the campsite is left empty, there will surely be a reason. Any example? Very (too!) Sunny during the day or maybe a noisy road beyond the hedge. So before pitching your tent, always take a look at the place.
4.b. Once you have chosen the spot, pitch the tent slightly on a slope. It will serve to avoid being trapped in a pool of water when it rains.
5. If you practice free camping, however, be careful not to place the tent too close to rivers or streams and not even under trees, even if it is good to look for a sheltered place.

6. The sleeping bag is chosen according to the season! Your choice will have to change, if you go to the mountains in winter or to the sea in summer, obviously to avoid dying of heat or cold. (obvious advice? Now that you have thought about it maybe yes, but probably for the first trip of this type it is good that these aspects are also emphasized)
7. A camping torch is essential!
8. As for the kitchen equipment, all you need is a pan and a saucepan, along with plastic plates and cups. A multipurpose knife and a field stove are essential, with a spare cartridge.
9. To protect yourself from mosquitoes during the summer, prefer lemongrass and take care to close the mosquito net of the tent.
10. A remedy against ants is to put some talcum powder around the tent, it will serve to keep them away.
