After having directly tested it, I want to talk to you about the Stockholm pass: my experience of use and my personal opinion about it. I had the chance to try it thanks to a collaboration with the Stockholm tourism agency, and I am happy to be able to talk about it.
– Duration: 1, 2, 3 or 5 days. The duration “starts” from the first time you use it for entry to a museum (example: you use it for the first time on Thursday at 10 am and you can use it until 10 am on Sunday mornings); I used that valid for 48 hours.
– Costs: of course they depend on the duration, if you choose the card for adults or children (this is discounted) and if also associated with the travelcard for the vehicles. The “basic costs” for adults, without the card for the vehicles, are these:
One day SEK 595.00 (approximately 61.05 euros with the euro-crown exchange rate of May 2017, so it could vary significantly)
Two days SEK 795.00 (about 81.57 euros with the euro-crown exchange rate in May 2017)
Three days SEK 995.00 (approximately 102.09 euros with the euro-crown exchange rate in May 2017)
Five days SEK 1295.00 (about € 132.88 with the euro-crown exchange rate in May 2017)
NB: the travelcard has a maximum duration of 72 hours (3 days, from the first use). If you choose the Stockholm pass with the travelcard the options are as follows (as reported in the appropriate section of the official website). As for prices for children, I refer you to the official Stockholm Pass website.
1 Day Stockholm Pass: 24-hour travelcard
2 Day Stockholm Pass: 72-hour travelcard
3 Day Stockholm Pass: 72-hour travelcard
5 Day Stockholm Pass: 72-hour travelcard
– What it includes: entry to 60 museums and attractions such as boat tours and “hop on – hop off” tourist buses.
– How to use it: it is “the simplest thing on earth” … You just have to give it to the cashier to get your admission free!
Is it worth it? How to decide whether or not to buy for your trip? Conti in hand, if the attractions you want to see are (almost) all included in the card, certainly a minimum of savings at the end of the holiday, you will undoubtedly notice, so from this point of view, I suggest you make this purchase. Why do I say “from this point of view”? Not because I think there are negative aspects for which it is discouraged, such as rude and unpleasant treatments or malfunctions, but just because I believe that in addition to the final costs, the duration of your trip must be taken into consideration! If you are staying a few days and then find yourself choosing things to see, I suggest you put yourself on the table and think about it. If you are going to stay in Stockholm for three days, the card with public transport permit you to have a substantial cost saving.
I recommend you to make your evaluations very carefully so as not to waste money buying something that will later serve you little or nothing (In any case Stockholm is not very cheap and any source of savings is welcome).
