My must-have in the suitcase

My must-have in the suitcase

There are some things that, when I’m travelling, I always have in my suitcase

These are few small things I always have with me when I’m traveling around the world. Just few weeks ago I was talking with a friend who, at one point, he asked me which are the things I never leave at home when I’m traveling the word: this conversation gave me the idea for this post. Let’s start with my “must-have in the suitcase” from those things that I always carry in my hand luggage:
0F2A0359 – Earplugs and eye mask Basically I’m a person who tends to wake up for any little noise and also for a minimum ray of light that enters the room. Since I tried mask and earplugs the first time I can not part with it when I travel! My night’s sleep “thanks me”:Now in the morning it is (almost) impossible for me to wake me nervous because I slept badly (and sometimes even a little).
Notebook (and pens): I started to take with me a notebook and a pen to quickly write down the places I had seen for each day of travel and my first feelings about these places. In time, the book has become the way to score well in my mind my travels and rework them once back at home: every trip is a chapter unto itself, with its memories and emotions. Every idea, every feeling and thought that I report on the pages has, for me, its importance (I’m finishing already the second book: until now these pages preserve my memories from 2014 to today, but who knows that sooner or later I does not transform them into something more than simple secret keepers).
Headphones for listening to music: The rhythms that I adopt when traveling is exhausting in 99% of cases (we are talking about 8-9 hours walking around the city) and relax in the evening is absolutely essential! With the tablet or the ipod is irrelevant, the important thing is to listen to some music (or some videos on youtube) to rest my mind and begin to prepare for the next day.
Swimsuit: I know that for some trips may seem crazy to take the bathing suit… But I learned that, as in life, you may not know what will happen! Maybe the hotel has a spa I snubbed while I was booking the hotel, or the weather is warmer than I expected and allows me a little swim in the sea: without a swimsuit, these situations become difficult to exploit. Now, for example, I am in Lanzarote, where temperatures are considerably higher than the one we have in Italy in this period: in the right warm day, maybe, I can also go to the beach!
Drugs: I know that drugs are a “must have” in (almost) everyone’s suitcase. But it seemed right to me put them in my list! Normally I take with me at least a medicine for the fever (usually paracetamol) and one for headaches and various pains are, for me, the minimum required

In my checked luggage (I carry it with me only if the trip takes at least 10 days), there is only one “must have” that I began to take with me for about a year or so and it almost never fails to be in my luggage. It is a towel for the hair: I found it in a decathlon store and I bought it, at that time, more for fun than for convenience (today, I must admit that it is one of the best thing I have ever buy for my travels). The towel is designed specifically for “rolling up inside” the hair and secure it with a button on the back of the head: personally I love it!
Asciugamano decathlonIt doesn’t take up much space in the luggage and I like it because, to me, is infinitely more convenient to use than conventional towels. I must admit, however,that it has two small flaws:
– for long hair like mine (at the moment they arrive over my elbow) it is not comfortable at 100%;
– is rather thin and, therefore, it absorbs little water;
It is not easy to bend it exactly as you find it in the shop, but I have noticed that there are a lot of ways to fold it without going to take up too much space.
Which are your must-have in your suitcase, those things tho which you never give up when you leave?
[I took the towel’s picture form the decathlon official website. No, the post is not sponsored by Decathlon: I simply could not take a picture that could satisfy me completely, and that allowed me to make you understand how well this is done]
